DEPT. Q — SEASON 2 (2026)

After the success of the first investigations, Carl Morck returns to the basement offices of Department Q, the cold-case division few in the police department truly respect. The unit still operates on the fringes, underfunded and politically inconvenient, yet its ability to uncover uncomfortable truths has begun to attract attention from powerful people who would prefer the past remain buried.

Carl remains brilliant but emotionally scarred, still living with the aftermath of the shooting that changed his life. Work is the only place where he feels a sense of control, yet every reopened file threatens to pull him deeper into unresolved guilt. His abrasive manner continues to test the patience of colleagues and superiors alike, even as his instincts repeatedly prove correct.

Akram, Rose, and Hardy once again form the fragile spine of the team. Their loyalty to Carl is complicated; they admire his talent but struggle with the walls he builds around himself. As they sift through forgotten evidence and faded testimonies, each member finds personal echoes of the pain hidden inside the new case.

This season’s central mystery begins with a discovery that links a modern incident to a crime long considered solved. What first appears straightforward slowly unravels into a web of privilege, silence, and generational influence. The deeper Department Q digs, the clearer it becomes that someone with resources and reach has worked for years to keep the truth submerged.

As pressure mounts, the investigation expands beyond procedure into dangerous territory. Witnesses grow reluctant, old alliances resurface, and threats arrive in subtle but unmistakable ways. Carl must decide how far he is willing to push when justice collides with institutions built to protect their own.

At the same time, the emotional cost of the work becomes harder to ignore. Rose confronts the limits of her resilience, Akram’s past shadows his present, and Hardy pushes himself to remain essential despite his physical constraints. Together they begin to understand that solving cold cases is never only about history—it is about who they are now.

In the end, the pursuit of truth forces Carl to face the question he has long avoided: whether redemption is possible or merely another story people tell themselves to survive. With reputations and lives hanging in the balance, Department Q steps into the light, knowing that once the past speaks, it cannot be silenced again.
