Robin Hood: Men in Tights 2: Tightening the Belt (2026)

The Premise: Sherwood Goes Corporate

The year is 2026—well, the medieval version of it, which looks suspiciously like a Hollywood backlot with a 5G tower disguised as a trebuchet. Robin of Loxley (Cary Elwes) is now “of a certain age,” living a quiet life of luxury and trying to remember where he put his keys and his dignity.

The peace is shattered when Prince Justin, the posh, venture-capitalist grandson of Prince John, decides that Sherwood Forest is “under-monetized.” His plan? Evict the peasants, pave the “disgusting” dirt paths, and transform the forest into Sherwood+: a premium, eco-glamping resort and 24/7 reality streaming service where the poor are hunted for “engagement” and “likes.”

The Return of the (Older) Legend

  • Cary Elwes as Robin: Still possessing that “English accent” that sounds better than Kevin Costner’s, Robin finds that his signature tights are significantly harder to get into than they were in the 90s. He’s dealing with back pain, a fading memory of how to shoot a bow, and a deep existential crisis about whether “robbing from the rich” is still tax-deductible.
  • Dave Chappelle as Blessu: The son of Achoo, Blessu has inherited his father’s role as the “token” voice of reason. He’s a high-level “Diversity and Inclusion” consultant for outlaws, constantly reminding Robin that you can’t just go around “men-in-tighting” people without a signed waiver and a PR strategy.
  • Amy Schumer as Maid Mary-Ann: A modern, fiercely independent descendant of Marian who has traded her chastity belt for a podcast and a “trad-wife” parody TikTok account. She’s the one who actually knows how to run a rebellion while Robin is busy complaining about the lack of gluten-free mead.

Satire at 100 MPH: The Meta-Mayhem

True to the Mel Brooks legacy, the film takes aim at everything wrong with 2026 entertainment:

Online movie streaming services
  • The “Gritty Reboot” Sequence: Halfway through, the film accidentally switches to a “DC-Style” dark filter where everyone is brooding in the rain, until Robin looks at the camera and says, “Wait, I can’t see a damn thing! Turn the saturation back up!”
  • The Job Creator Defense: When Robin tries to rob a wealthy merchant, the merchant calls for a “Safe Space” and explains that he isn’t “rich,” he’s a “job creator,” and stealing his gold would actually hurt the Merry Men’s long-term economic stability.
  • Cancel Culture in the Forest: The Sheriff of Rottingham (now a corporate lawyer) tries to cancel Robin for “unauthorized wealth redistribution” and “cultural appropriation of forest-dweller aesthetics.”

The Mel Brooks Touch

Mel Brooks returns as Rabbi Tuckman, who has successfully pivoted from traveling circumcisions to the tech world. He unveils his new app, “SnipSnap,” a “Circumcision-as-a-Service” platform that promises a 10% discount if you use the promo code “Ouch.” The film culminates in a massive, Broadway-style musical number titled “The Spanx of Loxley,” where the aging Merry Men lament the loss of their youthful metabolisms while dancing in synchronized formation with tactical riot shields.

Why It’s Needed in 2026

Robin Hood: Men in Tights 2 is a reminder that while the world gets more serious, we need to get more ridiculous. It’s a riotous explosion of puns, slapstick, and the realization that the only thing more dangerous than a man with a bow and arrow is an old man who has finally figured out how to use the “Reply All” button.
